PostHeaderIcon Anxiety And Panic Disorder: There Is Relief

Social Anxiety Disorder is among the most common ailments. One who suffers from it is constantly feeling they are being judged and criticized by the world, and this leads to panic attacks of another level. This form of anxiety and panic disorder is made worse by the feelings of uncertainty and your own discomfort in believing that others will see your fears.

Others with different forms of anxiety and panic disorder enjoy the company of other people and are social for the most part, but out of nowhere a panic attack will strike and all they can think about is fleeing to safety. If left untreated it can turn into agoraphobia and the victim will soon become a recluse never to leave the safety of their homes in fear that another attack will occur.

Treatment

The main objective in treating anxiety and panic disorder is to replace irrational thoughts and feelings of flight with rational reasoning. This can be accomplished by finding an enjoyable form of distraction with words, deep breathing and visual aids. Say to yourself that there is no danger. There is nothing that can harm me here. I am among friends and I am safe.

Practice deep breathing to avoid hyperventilating and give yourself something else to focus on. Breath in through the nose, hold it for a second and breathe out the  mouth. Count backwards from twenty to one very slowly. You are focusing on something other than the attack. You are in charge.

Prepare Yourself Mentally

You must go to a public function and you are feeling anxious because crowds make you nervous. Number one, if you go into a situation with apprehension you are setting yourself up for an anxiety attack. Think positive thoughts and prepare yourself ahead of time.

Picture yourself at this engagement happy and calm. You mingle with other people and enjoy a good meal, etc. See yourself going through the event with no anxiety and leaving as happy as you came. By giving yourself pre-conceived feelings of enjoyment you can avoid anxiety and panic disorder.

Try meditation and fitness to relieve stress. Exercise is a good mood enhancer and is known to relieve stress and help with sleep disorders often associated with anxiety. Your diet can also help. If you reduce the amount of starch in your diet and eat more lean proteins and green vegetables, which have a high alkaline content that are vital in balancing certain receptors in the brain, you will find that your overall feeling of well being is enhanced.

There is hope in curing anxiety and panic disorder without the aid of prescription medication. Give the above tips a try before resorting to drug therapy. You may be surprised at how well they work.
